This cache has been placed to bring you to the church of St John the Evangelist, Moggerhanger.
This cache is a camo'd sample pot. The cache only contains a log - you are a geocacher, you should have a writing implement! Please note that the final cache is located outside the churchyard and is NOT accessible from inside the churchyard. Please park sensibly and safely in the village. Recommended parking is outside the church on Blunham Road.
St John's church was built for the owner of Moggerhanger House, Mrs Elizabeth Dawkins, as a memorial to her husband, the Rev'd Edward Henry Dawkins who died in 1859. The Consecration of the Church took place on Tuesday 31st July 1860. The Bedford Times of August 1860 reported that "This beautiful little church does great credit to the architect, Mr Slater of London and to Mr Coquest of Kempston, the builder. It is in the early Norman style, of Kempston stone elegantly varied with red sandstone from the quarries at Silsoe. The carving of the capitals and the font are exquisite and the marble floor and the painted windows in the chancel are very rich. Mrs Dawkins has given a large burial ground fenced by a handsome stone wall and is building an excellent parsonage adjoining and she has endowed the living with £60 a year to which £40 a year is added from the revenues from the mother church at Blunham. The internal fittings and decorations are all in excellent taste. The vestry, belfry and tower are thoroughly handsome and substantial."
Please take time to explore the peace and tranquility of the churchyard. Please be respectful in the church and its grounds. When I visited the church to place the micro, I became distracted by the doors. To find the location of the final cache, you will need to visit the published coordinates and be similarly distracted.
Walking around the exterior of the church there are A sets of double doors and B single doors. CD percent (to 0 decimal places) of these have bootscrapers. To clarify, the percentage is calculated by Bootscrapers/(A+B)*100
