The Mt. Freedom Presbyterian Church was founded in 1820 as the Mount Freedom Presbyterian Church, it has been in continuous ministry since that date. The picturesque streams and wooded hills that once attracted the Lenni Lenape Indians in days of yesteryear are still attracting newcomers to Randolph Township in Morris County, New Jersey. Nestled along Sussex Turnpike near the commercial center of Randolph, this little church endeavors with love in the hearts of its members and with a strong will to survive in the witnessing for the Lord. Its Cemetery embraces veterans of the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Viet Nam War.
The Cemetery also offers a final resting place for members of the community who were pillars of our Church and who contributed to the growth of Randolph. The Mt. Freedom Presbyterian Church is located on the corner of Church Street and Sussex Turnpike in Randolph, NJ. Its property includes the Church, the Cemetery, and a house referred to as the Manse. These homes were historically used as pastor residences. On August 16, 1991, each of the Mt. Freedom Presbyterian Church properties were designated as landmarks on the New Jersey State Register of Historic Places. These properties were also accepted to the National Register of Historic Places on October 11, 1991.
The Randolph Township Historic Geotrail tour project was developed between Randolph Township and The Northern New Jersey Cachers, NNJC.org who have partnered, volunteered their time, expertise and assistance and help develop and implement the Randolph History tour and Geotrail.
The Randolph Geotrail caches are placed with approval by Randolph Township Parks department, any new caches will only be allowed by first obtaining written permission by Randolph Township.
