For over 200 million years, sturgeons have been swimming the waters of the world. They outlived the dinosaurs, yet in less than one sturgeon’s lifetime, humans have brought this prehistoric fish to the brink of extinction. White Sturgeon can attain lengths in excess of six meters, weights of over 600 kilograms, and can live for over 150 years. All sturgeon caught in the Fraser River must be tagged and released back into the water. The bottom living habits of this creature and the murky waters of the Fraser River keep these prehistoric fish hidden from view.
