O Capitão Donatário e o Pirata Invasor
Os objetivos desta Multicache, são:
1ª etapa - Divulgar o atual edifício da Biblioteca Municipal de Vila do Porto, resultado de uma magnífica obra de requalificação arquitetónica inaugurada em 16 de outubro de 2009, e disponibilizar algumas informações sobre os personagens históricos que ali habitaram.
Este edifício, conhecido por Solar da Boa Nova, foi residência do Capitão Donatário de Santa Maria, autoridade representante da Coroa Portuguesa, que tinha como função, entre outras, a de defesa da ilha dos ataques dos piratas e corsários que então a costumavam assolar e vandalizar, causando o pânico entre a população.
Neste edifício ainda subsistem alguns elementos que ilustram esse passado e que podem ser visitados. De início temos na fachada principal os vestígios daquela que terá sido a Capela privada da casa do Capitão Donatário onde se celebravam os atos religiosos para a família, seus trabalhadores e habitantes das redondezas. Na moldura da janela do 1.º andar desta Capela, em pedra da Baía da Cré, é possível encontrar fósseis bivalves incrustados; uma coleção de 15 balas de canhão em ferro, representativa das munições que equipavam as fortalezas da ilha; e ainda o Paiol de Munições, (cuja visita deverá ser solicitada às funcionárias da Biblioteca), constitui-se num pequeno edifício com paredes em alvenaria de pedra aparelhada, recoberto por abóbada de volta perfeita.
* No local da cache da primeira etapa, irás encontrar as coordenadas das fortificações, referidas na 2ª e 3ª etapas.
2.ª e 3.ª etapas – Por esta altura da visita, revivemos o dia 7 de Junho de 1616, (Enciclopédia) quando o então 4.º Capitão Donatário, de seu nome Pedro Soares de Sousa, é avisado pelas vigias, da aproximação à costa de uma Nau Pirata com intenções hostis. De imediato, este dá instruções à sua guarnição, distribuída pelas várias fortificações da ilha (Fortes) para vigiarem e afundarem a embarcação invasora.
Passadas algumas horas chega a notícia de que a Nau dos Piratas foi afundada com sucesso junto à costa da ilha pelo fogo cruzado de 2 fortificações.
* Os objetivos da 2ª e 3ª etapas é descobrir o local onde, em 1616, foram descobertos os despojos da Nau dos Piratas local onde hoje se encontra a geocache. Para isso deverás deslocar-te às fortificações indicadas e aí irás registar os azimutes indicados, cuja interceção indica o local da cache.
Na 2ª etapa (Fortificação 1) o azimute é 085º
Na 3ª etapa (Fortificação 2) o azimute é 305º
4ª etapa – A interceção dos 2 azimutes indica o local onde, segundo a lenda, em 1616, foram descobertos os despojos da Nau dos Piratas, e onde, hoje se encontra a Geocache, para fazeres o teu registo.
Notas:
1. A primeira etapa poderá de ser efetuada de 3ª a 6ª feira entre as 10:00h e as 19:00h; e 2ª feira entre as 14:00h e as 19:00h.
2. Para se realizar a segunda e terceira etapas será necessário utilizar bússola ou smartphone com o software necessário para marcar os azimutes indicados.
3. Esta cache estará desativada entre os meses de Outubro e Abril, por motivos de segurança.

Captain Donatário and the Invading Pirate
The objectives of this Multicache are:
1st stage - Disseminate the current building of the Municipal Library of Vila do Porto, the result of a magnificent architectural requalification work inaugurated on October 16, 2009, and provide some information about the historical characters who lived there.
This building, known as Solar da Boa Nova, was the residence of Captain Donatário de Santa Maria, authority representing the Portuguese Crown, which had as its function, among others, the defense of the island from the attacks of pirates and privateers who then used to ravage and vandalize it, causing panic among the population.
In this building there are still some elements that illustrate this past and that can be visited. At first we have on the main façade the traces of what was the private Chapel of the house of Captain Donatário where the religious acts for the family, their workers and inhabitants of the surroundings were celebrated. In the frame of the window of the 1st floor of this Chapel, in stone of the Bay of Cré, it is possible to find bivalve fossils encrusted; a collection of 15 iron cannonballs, representative of the ammunition that equipped the fortresses of the island; and also the Munitions Paiol, (whose visit should be requested from the library employees), is a small building with walls of stone masonry equipped, covered by perfect back dome.
* At the cache location of the first stage, you will find the coordinates of the fortifications, referred to in the 2nd and 3rd stages.
2nd and 3rd stages – At this time of the visit, we relive the day 7 June 1616, (Encyclopedia) when the then 4th Captain Donatário, named Pedro Soares de Sousa, is warned by the lookouts, the approach to the coast of a Pirate Ship with hostile intentions. Immediately, he gives instructions to his garrison, distributed throughout the island's various fortifications (Forts) to watch over and sink the invading vessel.
After a few hours comes the news that the vessel of the Pirates was successfully sunk along the coast of the island by the crossfire of 2 fortifications.
* The objectives of the 2nd and 3rd stages is to discover the place where, in 1616, were discovered the spoils of the Local Pirates vessel, where the geocache is today. To do this you must go to the indicated fortifications and there you will register the indicated azimuths, whose interception indicates the location of the cache.
In the 2nd stage (Fortification 1) the azimuth is 085º
In the 3rd stage (Fortification 2) the azimuth is 305º
Step 4 – The interception of the two azimuths indicates the place where, according to legend, in 1616, the spoils of the Pirate Ship were discovered, and where, today geocache is, to register.
Notes:
1. The first stage may take place from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 and 19:00; and Monday between 14:00 and 19:00.
2. To perform the second and third steps it will be necessary to use compass or smartphone with the necessary software to mark the indicated azimuths.
3. This cache will be disabled between October and April for security reasons.
