Geocache Description:

Mount Holyoke Range, Metacomet-Monadnock Trail
Mount Holyoke summit is accessible by road April through November; hiking trails, year-round; Summit House, weekends, holidays, Memorial Day-Columbus Day. Cars cost $2.00 on weekends, holidays; free on weekdays.

On this Memorial Day, we thought it would be fitting to stop and remember our people who have served and are still serving their duties for the USA. "They are perhaps the most forgotten of World War II's forgotten. They never reached Europe or the Pacific. Instead they died thousands of miles from the war in lumbering bombers and crude fighter planes that plowed into snowy New England mountainsides or dropped into the Atlantic, often in the black of night. They were the casualties of flight training, deprived even of the gratitude and honor bestowed on victims of combat."-AP

As you hike the M-M trails, or visit the Summit House, stop by this monument dedicated to all those who lost thier lives flying from Westover Field during W.W. II. (It's a 1-1 if you drive up, or hiking make it a 1-2.5)

*To verify your find, e-mail us with the type of plane on the monument and date, don't post your answer here even if encrypted (or you can post a picture of you at the monument without showing the details).BTW: No couch potato logs; you must visit it to log it!
