Geocache Description:

A large pirate treasure chest hidden in the woods.

Blackbeard’s treasure
Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach, joined a pirate crew and in 1717 he assembled a “navy” patrolling the coasts of Virginia and the Carolinas seeking cargoes of gold, in short, he was a good old fashioned pirate. Just a short year later he was caught, sentenced to death, shot and decapitated. But his treasure was never found. Some say it was scattered, others that he buried a chest on Ocracoke Island off North Carolina and some say that he hid it near his home in Bath, England. All the theories are in fact wrong and his treasure has now been found in Derbyshire at the co-ordinates above!

There are several routes to get to this cache, all of them involve quite rough ground so it isn't suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs I'm afraid but it is dog friendly. Stout footwear is recommended and wellies are a must if it is/has been raining. The cache is located on public land in the trees about 25m from the motorway, but there is no need to cross the boundary fence. A small amount of light bushwhacking will be required to access it (long sleeves would be a good idea), though it is "hidden" in plain sight once you are in the right place, so should be easy to find. This is a large pirate chest and has lots of goodies and plenty of room for trackables etc. There is very limited roadside parking in Warren Lane.

****Congratulations on FTF PlasmaWave and Nottswalker. Comiserations Lord and Lady Palf, sounds like you were just a few minutes too late! ****
