Another in the ever expanding Church Micro Series, started by Sadexploration.
Hawes Lane, West Wickham,
( I know this isn’t my GeoCaching manor but Im sure you won’t mind this nice incursion)
This Church was used regularly by my Grand parents who I miss so much.
They were a total inspiration for me and my family and where amazing role models.
They would be very proud of me and what I do for a living and this cache location and container is dedicated to them.
About the Church.
West Wickham Methodist Church was constructed in 1935 and is a beautiful pre war example of local architecture.
Ivy Kathleen Coulson was born in 19th November 1914, second child (of four) of William Thomas Coulson and Mabel Blanche. Her father was a prominent figure at Penge Tabernacle and Mabel was a Methodist. In 1934 the family moved to Oak Gate, Hawes Lane, West Wickham where the local Methodists used to hire Justin Hall for their Sunday Services. The weekly Thursday Class Meetings and various committees were held in Oak Gate and in 1935 it was decided to build a church on the field opposite.
My Grand Parents were both leaders in the Scouts and Girl guides respectively. Most churches in the area have local Scout and Girl guides attached to them.
