• 1972: Atari released the coin-operated arcade game called PONG. It was the first successful video game. At the time, only pin-ball machines, fortune tellers, etc, were common. Atari continued to produce arcade games until 2000.
• 1975: PONG for the home. During Christmas 1975 people waited up to 2 hours to sign up for the waiting list for an Atari At-Home PONG. 150,000 were sold that Christmas.
• 1977: The Atari 2600 VCS (Video Computer System) got its start. It was a multipurpose game console using cartridges for various games. Various programmers found they could program for the console, and Space Invaders became the first licensed game.
• 1982: Things don't fare well for Atari with it's release of the Atari 5200. The game market dries up, seen as a fad by those of it's time.
• 1982-1987: Various home personal computers are designed and sold.
• 1987: Atari introductes the Atari PC-1. It's an IBM XT compartible computer with built-in hard drive, serial ports, parrallel ports, keyboard, mouse, and a video port.
• 1993: All company resources are directed into the Atari Jaguar 64. A 64bit console.
• 2000: Atari Games Corp announces the last game with the Atari name will be San Francisco Rush 2049. All future games will be from Midway Games Corp.

The cache in a small Tupperware container is located at old Atari Corporate Headquarters from 1984-1996. It is a very distinctive and well-known building on Borregas.

The initial cache contents are:

• Log + Pen
• Geocaching log
• Small Bop-It game
• Penguin Mints (sorry decafinated)

If you have any small Atari stuff, it would make a great addition to the cache. I'll visit some local old computer stores and see if I can find anything
