OBJECTIVO:
Com esta cache pretendemos levá-lo a subir o rio Arade, de kayak ou canoa, ao longo de um troço de aproximadamente 5 km, entre a Mexilhoeira da Carregação e a confluência com a ribeira de Odelouca, mostrando o encanto e a beleza das paisagens estuarinas neste segmento fluvial.
DESCRIÇÃO:
Esta é uma multi-cache composta por 3 pontos, sendo que o primeiro e o segundo são virtuais e o terceiro (físico) corresponde à geocache.
No 1º ponto (virtual), local onde se deverá fazer ao rio com uma canoa ou kayak, obtém informação para as coordenadas do 2º ponto.
No 2º ponto (virtual), obtém informação para as coordenadas do ponto final (geocache).
Tanto o 2º ponto como o ponto final representam locais de interesse natural neste segmento do rio Arade. Contudo a mais-valia desta cache, não se esgota somente na visita destes locais, mas sobretudo no agradável passeio de kayak/canoa e no desfrutar das paisagens que se vão sucedendo ao longo do percurso.
No 1º ponto, dado pelas coordenadas publicadas, obtenha a seguinte informação:
- Ano de inauguração do edifício (ABCD)- update Agosto 2022: o edificio já não se encontra no local- considere ABCD= 1993;
- Ano em que teve lugar a requalificação (EFGH)- update Agosto 2022: o edificio já não se encontra no local- considere EFGH= 2004;
Faça-se ao rio no kayak/canoa e vá até ao 2º ponto em:

No 2º ponto, observe com atenção e obtenha a seguinte informação:
- Número de letras do nome próprio da figura religiosa representada (I);
- Número de azulejos (quadrados) no painel da referida figura (J);
- Sequência – de cima para baixo – do número de pequenos ferros verticais em cada patamar, na parte superior da estrutura metálica mais perto da rocha (K/L/M/N);

ALUGUER DE KAYAKS/CANOAS: Existe possibilidade de aluguer destas embarcações nas povoações próximas, nomeadamente na Mexilhoeira da Carregação e em Portimão. Se tiver interesse em alugar um kayak/canoa para procurar esta cache e não possuir qualquer contacto para o efeito, envie-nos um email, que lhe facultaremos pelo menos um.
ÉPOCA ACONSELHADA: Todo o ano. De manhã cedo e sobretudo ao final da tarde, são alturas especialmente recomendadas.
DURAÇÃO: Aproximadamente 3-4 horas.

- creme protector;
- água;
- botas “anfíbias” (evite o uso de chinelos de praia, chanatas e similares, uma vez que irá precisar de boa aderência fora do kayak/canoa);
CUIDADOS A TER / CONSELHOS UTEIS:
Os estuários são ecossistemas de transição entre águas doces (rios) e salgadas (mar), e como tal têm uma dinâmica bastante marcada de correntes, como tal:
- não procure esta cache em colchões de praia ou a nadar. Lembre-se que as correntes em estuários, e sobretudo as vazantes, podem ser traiçoeiras e perigosas.
- avalie sempre a ondulação e vento antes de se fazer ao rio. Evitar procura a cache em dias de forte ondulação/vento;
- leve sempre colete salva-vidas, não arrisque;
- leve bastante água, sobretudo no Verão.
-se possível, coordene o passeio com a dinâmica das marés: à ida, aproveite a enchente da maré e/ou no regresso, a vazante.
Por favor não coloque texto/fotos nos logs referente à informação a ser obtida no 1º e 2º ponto.

GOAL:
This cache will take you through a kayak/canoe journey up the Arade River, along a 5-km long river segment between Mexilhoeira da Carregação and the confluence with Odelouca River, showing some beautiful landscapes and interesting scenic spots.
DESCRIPTION:
This is a multi-cache consisting of three stages. Stage1 and Stage2 are virtual, whereas Stage3 (physical) represents the geocache.
At Stage1 (virtual), you will collect information needed to achieve Stage2. The Stage1 is also the place where you can park your car and leave up the river in a kayak or canoe.
At Stage2 (virtual), you will collect information needed to find the geocache.
Both the Stage2 and Stage3 represent places of natural interest in this segment of the Arade River. However, the most important feature of this cache is the pleasant journey along the river channel and the opportunity to enjoy the landscapes that appear on the way.
At Stage1 (published coordinates) obtain the following information:
- Year of inauguration of the building (ABCD); update August 2022- the building is no longer there, please consider ABCD= 1993;
- Year when the requalification took place (EFGH); update August 2022- the building is no longer there, please consider EFGH= 2004;
Take the kayak/canoe and proceed to Stage2 at:

At Stage2, observe carefully and collect the following information:
- Number of letters of the name of the religious figure represented (I);
- Number of tiles (quadrats) on the panel of the same religious figure (J);
- Sequence – from up to down – of the number of small vertical iron rods at each level at the top of the metal structure closer to the rock (K/L/M/N);

RENT A KAYAK/CANOE: There is a chance of renting kayaks/canoes at nearby villages, namely in Mexilhoeira da Carregação or in Portimão. If you are interested in renting a kayak/canoe to search for this cache and do not have any contact for this purpose, please send us an email, so we can provide you at least one.
RECOMMENDED SEASON: All year. Early morning and late afternoon are particularly recommended to search for this cache .
DURATION: Approximately 3-4 hours.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
- Life jacket;
- Hat;
- Protective cream;
- Water;
- "Amphibious" boots (avoid the use of beach footwear, as you will need a good adherence out of the kayak/canoe);
WARNINGS / USEFUL TIPS:
Estuaries are transitional ecosystems between freshwater (rivers) and salt waters (sea), and as such have a rather marked current dynamics. As such:
- Do not look for this cache on inflated air mattresses or by swimming. Remember that the currents in estuaries, especially ebb currents, can be treacherous and dangerous.
- Always check the waves and wind before entering the river; avoid search this cache in days of strong wind/waves;
- Always wear life jackets, do not risk;
- Take plenty of water, especially in summer.
- If possible, coordinate the journey with the tides: depart when the tide is rising and/or return during the low tide.
Please do not insert text or photos in the logs regarding the information to be collected on Stage1 and Stage2.
