Geocache Description:

No trip to Duo Lake is complete without a hike up the ridge southeast of the lake. This hike affords spectacular views of the lake directly below, the Snake River Valley extending as far as the eye can see to the north, and neighbouring peaks and ridges of the Mackenzie Mountains. The view to the southwest follows the Duo Creek valley all the way to the Bonnet Plume. The view to the west reveals a peek into a steep creek bed invisible from the campsite below.

Duo Lake is the usual drop-off point for paddlers bound for the Snake River and less frequently, for the Bonnet Plume River.  The hike is commonly done by campers spending a layover day or two at this beautiful spot while contemplating the 2 km portage to the river itself.  The cache is a 1000 mL, red, Nalgene bottle.  The cache itself is located at an elevation that would be accessible to most hikers in moderately good physical condition.  The find the cache, follow the ridgeline southeast of Duo Lake. The cache is located at the upper edge of the alpine meadow at the lower extreme of the rocky incline heading up into the scree slopes.  It is hidden beneath a prominent orange rock.  The original contents of the cache include:

- log book
