Geocache Description:

The Carolina Thread Trail is a series of interconnected greenways, trails, and blueways.  This particular segment of trail covers 2.2 miles along the South Yadkin River.  This segment of trail is home to numerous hardwood trees and riparian forests.  There are numerous species of plants, birds, and other animals.  The trail is easy to follow and the majority is well shaded for a nice hike nearly any time of the year.

There is great information about this portion and the rest of the Thread Trail project at http://www.carolinathreadtrail.org

We decided to place a whole series of caches along this trail segment to draw attention to this segment of trail and the Carolina Thread Trail system as a whole.  We hope you enjoy these caches and the trail.

Begin at the posted coordinates. The fairies do not live here, but we will guide you to their home. Amble down the path until you see remnants of a two broken pine trees on your right. Note the flow of the current in the river, it flows toward the fairies. Continue around the bend to the land of the giant trees. Beware of the fallen saw-toothed giants. They will not be able to catch you if you continue down the path. Make your way up the grade. At point where the path bends to the right you will see Wise Old Y and his younger apprentice behind him. Note the height of his apprentice, he is very tall indeed. Leaving the Wise Y's, continue in an S curve upward. You are now leaving the falling giants and moving towards middle-age where it is a little flatter. There are fallen trees on both sides of the trail. Look for the one parallel to the trail on the right that has fallen in the direction you walk. Stay on the trail until you pass the pine you can touch from the trail. Leave the trail here to the right and you will find the fairies near the parallel tree. Do not pass the Y-oak after the pine or the fairies will be much harder to find.

Remain calm and quiet so you do not disturb the fairies. You will need to dismantle the top section of the house to retrieve the container. Please rebuild it carefully once you have completed your tasks so the fairies can come back to comfort.

There is a self-inking stamp in the container. Please do not take the stamp from the container. It is not a trade item. You may use the stamp to stamp your personal book but please do not stamp the log in the cache.

Please observe all posted markings and signage along the trail. In keeping with Thread Trail rules, caches are placed not far from the trail. Please hide as found to protect from muggles and make the hunt fun for the next cachers.

Congrats to Night-Hawk for the FTF!
