Geocache Description:

The Cache
An ammo box located behind the interpretive center.

The Location
The Pulaski / Giles County Trail of Tears Memorial, located in Pulaski's Pleasant Run Park, commemorates the history of the Trail of Tears in the area with an interpretive center, outdoor signs, a statue representing a Cherokee family, and an overlook of a site where the Trail route crossed Richland Creek. Two different routes on the Trail of Tears passed through the town. A detachment of approximately 1100 Cherokee, led by John Benge, traveled through the county between October 20 and October 23, 1838. John Bell led a detachment of 650 to 700 Cherokee that passed through Giles County between October 31 and November 5, 1838. The Area
This cache is placed in Giles County "The Wild Turkey Capital of Tennessee". While the county is famous for it’s wildlife, it is also home of the Milky Way Farm and Mansion--founded by Mr. Frank Mars, the famous candy maker. The county seat, Pulaski was named an All America City in 1993. "The Land of Milk and Honey." Giles County is an ideal stopover for vacationers who enjoy a progressive community that preserves its cultural heritage.

The Jack Trail GeoTour
The Jack Trail GeoTour is a series of geocaches along the backroads and small towns of Middle Tennessee. There is no fixed itinerary, like on a traditional trail, but rather a series of points of interest in a self-guided, goal-oriented plan. We have created a special passport, which you can download here, which lets you track your progress as you hunt specially placed geocaches along the tour. This passport will help you collect “code words” to qualify for special geocoins for completion of the GeoTour.
