A part of the Rails-to-Trails project in Tennessee, the Tweetsie Trail connects Johnson City with Elizabethton where part of the old East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad line once ran.
From 1986 till about 1934, a small depot or "flag stop" existed near Milligan College where students could catch the train heading east to Elizabethton or west to Johnson City. Now, a small commemorative resting area stands along the Tweetsie Trail where runners, walkers and cyclists can stop for a breather. If you look carefully to the southwest, you can see the cross at the top of the steeple of Seeger Chapel at Milligan College.
Depending on when you're there, bystanders are likely. Coordinates should be accurate to within 10'.
