Geocache Description:

Bring your family and friends and join us for a fun Fall CITO at Joseph Stewart State Park, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm!!  The stated coordinates will take you to a parking area in the Day Use area and we will be gathering nearby to begin.

As fall approaches and settles in, I feel that it's time for another CITO in our neck of the woods.  AmandaKShaffer and I would like to invite you all out to Joseph Stewart State Park to come and mingle with fellow cachers and park rangers.  This event is open to all members of your caching family and any friends you'd like to bring along to teach about geocaching and taking care of our environment.  I have been in close contact with a friend who is a park ranger at Joseph Stewart State Park, and he and I have been working together to try and start setting up CITO's in our area to keep it clean and enjoyable to all those who come visit.  As I had said in my previous CITO (GC5AR8V Jackson County Expo Post-Run Cleanup) I really want to start giving back to our community and embracing the idea of Cache In Trash Out, and also Leave No Trace.

By partnering with my park ranger friend, we have come up with a plan for an event that will let the Geocaching world intermingle with the State Park world.  Our vision for this event is to come together as a Geocaching team, meet with the park rangers while they go over some information for us about their park and it's features, including some of the areas to pay special attention to and even those to avoid.  We will be providing garbage bags, latex gloves and bottled water, but feel free to bring anything else you might want to have when it comes to picking up litter and trash. After a brief informational meeting, we will be able to break into groups and spread out to be most effective.  The more volunteers we have, the better!!  As I've stated before, "Many hands make light work."

After we finish cleaning the park and doing our part, we invite everyone to stay and enjoy a BBQ picnic lunch.  AmandaKShaffer and I will be providing some burgers and hot dogs, as well as bottled water, but we invite you all to bring a side dish and help turn it into a pot luck of sorts.  The park has an amazing cookout spot that we will be able to take advantage of and enjoy.

The plan is to meet in the parking lot where the coordinates take you at 10:00 am.  From here we will meet up with the park rangers and begin our event.  Depending on the amount of volunteers we have and the speed at which we work, I would like to have our BBQ lunch around 1:00 pm.  If you are planning on being able to attend the event, please let me know how many people you would be bringing so we can try to get an accurate head count for the bbq.  Thank you!!
