North Memorial Hall is the venue for the Oadby Evangelical Free Church designed in a restrained Neo-Georgian style. This is based in the ‘garden suburb’ of North Memorial Homes opened in 1927 by the Prince of Wales. The homes were built in 1927 to house servicemen wounded in the Great War and financed by Alderman Sir Jonathan North who had been the Mayor of Leicester throughout the conflict. Leicester architect, Trevor Sawday designed the buildings in attractive ‘garden suburb’ style, popular at the time. The matured trees make this a very pleasant environment for the residents.
