When a housing estate was planned in the 1970s a plot of land was allocated for a church. The Church of Christ in Evington purchased the land for a daughter church. A baptistery was added in 1977.
The United Reformed Church (URC) is one of the mainstream Christian Churches in Great Britain and is the result of a union between the Presbyterian, Church of England and the Congregational Church in England and Wales in 1972 and subsequent unions with the Re-formed Association of Churches of Christ in 1981 and the Congregational Union of Scotland in 2000.
