Womersley railway station was opened in 1848 and was a fine ornate building, it was built on the Knottingley to Doncaster line. It had it's own sidings and was used by the farming and limestone business to transport their goods, a passenger service also ran from this station. It remained open for one hundred years closing in 1948. The line is still in use for frieght and passenger trains and there is an automated level crossing near the station, so take care.
The station buildings are now a private residence.
Parking is available close by.
