Ao longo da última década Portugal fez um grande investimento na área das energias renováveis, com vista a reduzir a sua dependência energética do exterior, visto que Portugal não tem explorações petrolíferas. Este investimento tem vindo a ser feito também de um ponto de vista ambiental, contribuindo para um país e um planeta menos poluído. No ano de 2013 cerca de 58,3% na energia consumida em Portugal foi de origem renovável (um aumento de 20% face a 2012), dos quais 23% foram de origem eólica, o que representa a produção de quase 12 TWh (12.000.000.000 KWh!) nesse ano. Nos últimos anos a taxa de energia renovável utilizada tem estado sempre a aumentar, com destaque para a eólica.
O local onde a cache se encontra não podia estar mais relacionado com este tema, estando ela próxima da base destes imponentes aerogeradores que convertem o vento na electricidade que tanto consumimos.

Over the last decade Portugal made a major investment in renewable energy in order to reduce its dependence on foreign energy, since Portugal has no oil fields. This investment has also been made from an environmental point of view, contributing to a cleaner country and a cleaner planet. In 2013 about 58.3% of the power consumed in Portugal was from renewable sources (an increase of 20% compared to 2012), of which 23% was from wind. Thus the production of wind energy in 2013 was almost 12 TWh (12.000.000.000 KWh!). In recent years the rate of renewable energy use has been increasing, especially wind.
The location where the cache is couldn’t be more related to this theme because is near to the base of these huge towering turbines that convert wind into electricity that we consume at home.
