WiTS - WWI - 2. Prisoners of War Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Professor Xavier: This cache was requested to be unarchived by the CO shortly after I archived it.

6 weeks later the cache remains disabled with no maintenance having occurred, I'm therefore archiving it again. It won't be unarchived a second time.

Regards,

Professor Xavier.

Geocache Description:

We are group of young Dorset volunteers who have set a trail so you can go back in time and walk in the Shoes of a Dorset First World War Soldier. In this cache there are things to swap, some history cards we made and a QR code to scan with a WW1 radio show and extra info. We did all the research and design work and made our own app

In this cache we have tried to tell the little known story of the First World War German Prisoners of War who nearly outnumbered the residents of Dorchester in the First World War. If you check out the history cards we made for you, you will discover exactly what the camp was like. The huts are all gone but you would have been standing in the middle of them with German being spoke all around you and the red brick building you can see near the café up the road in use. We would love to know what you think about the story we tell you while you stand in this spot where history was made 100 years ago. Cache placed with the kind permission of Grove House.
