The Dils Cemetary is listed on the National Register of Historic
Places as part of the Hatfield-McCoy Feud Historic District. It is
the first known cemetery in Eastern Kentucky to be integrated. Some
of the more famous people buried here are Randolph McCoy, legendary
leader of the McCoy Clan, and his wife/cousin Sarah, as well as
their daughter, Roseanna, who ran away with Johnse Hatfield (son of
Devil Anse Hatfield).
The Dils Cemetary is located at the mouth of Chloe Creek in
Pikeville. Park in the Fire Station parking lot (coordinates N 37
28.650’, W082 30.885’) and follow the wooden steps up to the
cemetery.
The cache is in a clear Tupperware container and originally
included the following:
*1 fishing lure (spinnerbait)
*another fishing lure (Mann's 15+ crankbait)
*a bag of golf tees
*a key ring
*an ink pen
*2 mini carabiners
*brochures about the Dils Cemetery and the Hatfield-McCoy Feud.
PS--While hiding this cache, my wife said to me, "Please promise me
that, when I die, you won't bury me with my head downhill."
