This is a lovely church tucked away in the heart of the village of Castle Donington, St Edward, King and Martyr.
The doomsday book in 1086 mentions a priest at Dunintune but there is no mention of a church until 1133. The present church dates from the early 13th century. work started on the north aisle in 1300 and took 12 years to complete. Soon after, the tower was reconstructed with its fine 120ft spire.
If anybody would like to expand the series please do, i would just ask that you would contact sadexploration first at church@gmail.com, so he ca keep track of the church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a church micro stats & information page found via the bookmark list.
