Geocache Description:

A disguised container.  There is a clue in the street name and the cache name. Bring your own pen or pencil.

The land now used for residential purposes around here was at one time a rather large light industrial complex. This was back from the tree line, on the right hand side of the A21, Bromley bound, just before the junction of Starts Hill and Farnborough High St. The company employed around 800 at one time, manufacturing engine valves. At one time, during their peak in the 1950s and 1960s, coaches picked up employees from all over the Orpington/Bromley area, some from as far away as Brixton. In the late 70s the company wanted to expand with 24 hr working etc. Local residents, including the owners of the nearby turkey farm, complained about noise pollution so the company decided to move operations to the Midlands near Birmingham, closing the factory in 1984 costing many jobs. The whole site which incidentally had it's own full time gardeners, was cleared after the demolition of the buildings, also including the nearby farms, to make way for the 'Broadwater Gardens' housing estate.
At the entrance to Pincecrest Gardens there are a pair of gateposts with stone balls on top.  This was the entrance to the factory.
