Geocache Description:

Each Down Your Wold geocache is placed to help you explore and discover more about the landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds, inside each one is a heritage card and kids activity for you to take with you. These cards have been lovingly created by the residents of the area. Join us on an adventure to uncover more about the hidden heritage of this fascinating countryside.


This cache is a clip lock box in a camouflage bag with a pencil and a log. This cache lives in Hemingby. A village surrounded by stunning countryside and home to to quite interesting local history!

Situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) north from the market town of Horncastle and just west from the junction of the B1225 and A158 roads, Hemingby is an ideal place to begin exploring the Lincolnshire Wolds. It is surrounded by the villages of Baumber, Goulceby and West Ashby. The River Bain and its tributary, the Hemingby Beck, flow through the village.

This geocache lives on the grounds of a public house, which is the former coaching inn on the old Louth to Lincoln coaching route. The cache is only available to find during the following times: Lunchtimes - Wed to Sun 1200 - 1400 Evenings - Wed to Fri 1800 - 2000 Sat: 1900 - 2200

Interesting fact: On 18 April 2007 Radio Lincolnshire briefly changed its name to BBC Radio Hemingby for a day, and broadcast from the village!
