Le village d’Eyguières possède un patrimoine très riche, comme en témoignent ses nombreux oratoires, fontaines et édifices dont les plus anciens datent du Moyen-Age. Cette multicache vous permettra de découvrir le centre ancien d’Eyguières et quelques-uns de ses monuments.
Etape 1 : Fontaine Coquille
La fontaine Coquille fut édifiée en aaaa, sur la place Thiers, à l’emplacement de l’actuel Monument aux Morts. En 1925, elle remplace la fontaine Pontilhaud, dont l’état était très abîmé. Elle alimentait entre autres les abreuvoirs de l’ancienne gendarmerie située en face. Dans l’Antiquité, la Coquille était le symbole de la fécondité. On la portait pour préserver de la sorcellerie, du mauvais sort et des maladies.
Etape 2 : Médiathèque
La médiathèque se trouve dans l’ancien moulin à huile dit de « Bermond », du nom d’un de ses derniers propriétaires. Depuis 1995, il a été entièrement aménagé par la municipalité pour y créer la médiathèque et y déposer les archives municipales. Il comporte encore deux pressoirs dont le plus ancien porte la date 1708. Au XIXe siècle, l’ensemble fut complété par deux pressoirs métalliques. Au sol à l'entrée se trouve un carreau portant le numéro b.
Etape 3 : Maison du Bel Age
Le bâtiment de la Maison du Bel Age a été construit en cccc. A l’origine c’était l’hôtel de ville où l’on entrepose les archives, puis plus récemment l'Office du Tourisme. Au premier étage, un dépôt archéologique propose un condensé édifiant sur la vie au jour le jour des villageois. A découvrir en particulier une stèle gallo-romaine provenant des fouilles du site de saint Pierre de Vence au nord d'Eyguières et deux sceaux en bois du haut moyen-âge en parfait état de conservation, ou d'une époque plus contemporaine, le fameux " Trésor du Félibrige ", grand dictionnaire de provençal en français, écrit et dédicacé par Frédéric Mistral lui-même.
En levant la tête, sur la façade on trouve un cadran solaire orienté Est-Sud-Est, permettant de ne lire l'heure que jusqu'à midi, avec comme maxime "sol umbras prudentia civis" : le soleil fait l'ombre la sagesse les citoyens.
Etape 4 : Monument aux morts
Le Conseil municipal a décidé d’ériger un monument commémoratif sur la voie publique le 18 mars 1919. Compte tenu de l’importance du village, le monument d’Eyguières est considéré comme l’un des plus beaux de la région. Une statue en bronze représentant un combattant de la Grande Guerre, plus grande que nature, repose sur un imposant piédestal taillé dans de la pierre des carrières des Baux de Provence. Le lieutenant Darell K. Stoyke, pilote américain, est mort le 19/ee/1944.
Etape 5 : Plaque d’inauguration du centre-ville
L’inauguration du réaménagement du centre-ville s’est déroulée le ff/gg/2013.
Etape 6 : Plaque d’inauguration du parvis de l’église
Par un acte daté de 1139 d’Alphonse Ier, comte de Provence, on sait qu’une église est mentionnée sous le vocable de Sainte-Marie-Magdeleine, implantée contre le rempart du château dans sa partie orientale. Ce n’est qu’en 1771 que l’emplacement actuel de l’église est définitivement approuvé. Elle est bâtie dans le même quartier que l’ancienne, mais avec une orientation différente pour tenir compte de la présence du canal du Moulin. L’inauguration du parvis de l’église s’est déroulée le hh/ii/2013.
Etape 7 : Escalier menant à la rue Calade

Etape 8 : Porte à herse
Ce vestige des fortifications du village médiéval est bâti en travers de la rue Calade qui constituait le plus important des deux accès au château médiéval. Cette construction, en pierre de taille et moellon maçonné présente le passage d’une herse en fer coulissant verticalement afin d’interdire l’accès au château. Juste après la porte à herse, à gauche, relevez le numéro de la maison. k vaut la moitié de ce numéro.

The village of Eyguières have a very rich inheritance, as show of its numerous oratories, fountains and old buildings which date from the Middle Ages. This multicache will let you to discover the old center of Eyguières and some of its monuments.
Stage 1: Coquille fountain
The Coquille fountain was built in aaaa, on the Thiers place, in the location of the current War memorial. In 1925, it replaces the Pontilhaud fountain, which was very damaged. It fed among others the drinking troughs of the old police station situated opposite. In Antiquity, the Shell was the symbol of the fertility. We carried it to protect from the witchcraft, from the evil spell and from the diseases.
Stage 2: The media library
The media library is in the old oil mill called "Bermond", the name of one of his last owners. Since 1995, it was completely fitted out by the municipality to create the media library there and deposit the municipal archives there. It contains another two presses, the oldest of which carries the date 1708. In the XIXth century, the set was completed by two metallic presses. On the ground in the entrance, there is a tile carrying the number b.
Stage 3: House of the Elderly
The building of the House of the Elderly was built in cccc there. Originally it is the city hall, where we store archives. On the first floor, an archaeological deposit proposes a summary building on the life from day to day villagers. To discover in particular a Gallo-Roman stele resulting from excavations of the site of Saint Pierre de Vence in the North of Eyguières and two wooden seals of the high Middle Ages in perfect condition of preservation, or of more contemporary time, the famous " Treasury of Félibrige ", big dictionary of Provençal in French, written and dedicated by Frédéric Mistral.
By raising the head, on the facade we find a directed sundial East-South-East, allowing to read the hour only till noon, with as maxim "sol umbras civis prudentia": the sun makes the shade the wisdom the citizens.
Stage 4: War memorial
The City Council decided to set up a memorial on public highway on March 18th, 1919. Considering the importance of the village, the monument of Eyguières is considered as one of the most beautiful of the region. A bronze statue representing a fighter of the Great War, bigger than nature, based on an impressive base cut in stone coming from quarries of Les Baux de Provence. Lieutenant Darell K . Stoyke, American pilot, died on ee 19th, 1944.

Stage 6: Inauguration sheet of the church grounds
By an act dated 1139 of Alphonse Ier, count of Provence, we know that a church is mentioned under the word of Sainte-Marie-Magdeleine, implanted against the rampart of the castle in its oriental part. It is only in 1771 that the current location of the church is definitively approved. It is built in the same district of the old, but with a different orientation to take into account the presence of the canal of the Mill. The inauguration of the church grounds took place on ii hhth, 2013.
Stage 7: Staircase leading to the Calade street
Since the square, go up this staircase, constituted of jj steps.
Stage 8: Door with harrow
This vestige of the fortifications of the medieval village is built across the Calade street which established the most importing both accesses to the medieval castle. This construction of ashlar and built rubble stone presents the passage of an iron harrow sliding vertically to forbid the access to the castle. Just after the door with harrow, on the left side, get the house number. k is the half of this number.
