About Farncombe Station
Farncombe railway station opened in 1897 as a minor stop on the Portsmouth Direct Line between Guildford and Godalming, England. It is said to have been built at the instigation of General Sir Frederick Marshall, a director of the London and South Western Railway Company, who lived nearby at Broadwater.
The station lies in the centre of Farncombe, a northern suburb of Godalming. Nowadays it is served by South West Trains on the main line from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour. It would have been served by the old Southern Railway. Farncombe station is staffed most of the time with possibly the grumpiest of all railway staff in contrast to the cheery welcome in the café on platform 1 .

The Cache
This is my third attempt in getting a Sidetracked cache in Farncombe. The first was in a really nasty place (it was my first!). The second was a better location but I was never really happy with it as it could only tenuously be called a dash from the station. I much prefer this location. Be careful as muggles can approach from any direction without warning, avoid at school arriving and departing times.
