Geocache Description:

Across the freeway from Welcome to Bloomington. Unlike Bloomington, which wants you to know how many people made it to Bloomington before you, Richfield wants you to know that you're welcome here. Our first home after we were married was in Richfield. In the midst of a large metropolitan area, to us Richfield always had a bit of a small-town feel to it. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once upon a time, and not so very long ago, there was a sign. It wasn't your typical street sign. It didn't say "No Parking," or "Snow Removal Route." Nor did it say "Slippery When Wet" or "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service." It was a warm and friendly sign. Not as friendly as "Don't Panic," but what is? It welcomed people to the charming little village of Richfield, Minnesota. It was here. Now it's gone. We are grieved at its loss, but we live in the hope that it will return or be replaced. Until that day we are comforted in the knowledge that those who took the sign did not take the cache.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been years since the Welcome to Richfield sign was removed and it now appears that there is no plan to replace it.  We can only conclude that you are not welcome to Richfield anymore.   Well . . . consider it their loss.
