Paralelní dráha
Výlet po letištní ploše Petra ohromil, ale zároveň mu připomněl, jak ve zprávách zaslechl, že by se do budoucna mělo ještě rozšiřovat. Výstavba nové paralelní dráhy se stala ožehavým tématem, ale on sám měl jako milovník letadel celkem jasno. A protože mu na poznávání letiště zbývala ještě spousta času, rozhodl se, že si udělá delší procházku a půjde se podívat – tedy samozřejmě jen zpoza plotu – na místo, kde by dráha jednou měla stát.
Procházka by to byla hodně dlouhá, a tak Petr zamířil na zastávku autobusu a přejel do nedalekých Hostivic. Vystoupil před zámkem a ulicí Cihlářskou došel až k podjezdu pod železnicí. Kousek za ní už pochodoval mezi poli a zastavil se až na nadjezdu přes dálnici. Odsud se vypravil do míst, kudy by plánovaná dráha měla procházet.

Parallel runway
Petr loved the tour around the airport, but it also reminded him about the next planned expansion of the airport he heard about. The construction of a new parallel runway has become a controversial issue, though he himself, a fan of all things flying, was quite sure which side he’d favor. And since he still had a lot of time to spend at the airport, he decided to go on a longer trip and see for himself – from behind the fencing, of course – where the new runway should be.
The visit to Terminal 3 proved to be one of the highlights of Petr’s tour around the airport. He had booked a seat on one of the airport tours that depart from here – the best way to get to places he would otherwise never get to see. Like the fire station, the hangars and the technical backstage of the whole airport. Though he already knew a lot about how such a vast complex is being operated, he still heard a lot of new, interesting stuff. And he realized that keeping an international airport running smoothly is even more complicated than he’d thought.
It would have been a very long trip on foot, and so Petr took the bus to Hostivice, got off at the castle and walked along Cihlářská street, past the railway station and further on, along fields, to the highway overpass. From here he continued to the site of the planned runway.
