is now an ammo can. It took me about 35 steps at a 100 degrees from
the rock (coor's listed above) Please visit the original
co-ordinates to see the vista, the go to these to find the cache.
N41. 24. 291 W 075. 34. 545 Best parking is in the vacant lot
across from the Holiday Inn in Dunmore at N 41.24.876, W 75.35.965.
No bushwhacking involved if you park here. When you finally reach
the view, enjoy the view and the vultures, head to the very large
overhanging boulder in the distance on a trail above you. Go there,
stand on it facing the view, then walk 35 steps at 100 degrees from
north on a compass to a big flat rock you can easily stand on and
there you are. (The cache is well removed from the edge of the
ledge.) Enjoy.
You can access the unmarked but excellent quad trails by going
through the gate at the reservoir and turning right at the breast
of the dam. You will have many, many choices. Just keep going
straight "up". Parts of this walk will be on the old gravity
railroad bed, active in the 1800's. There are plenty of possible
loops here. Dusky skippers and spring azures led me all the way up.
A towhee greeted me at the top with his "to eat, to eat, to
eat."
SOME OTHER INTERESTING POINTS
An interesting stop along the way can be accessed by finding a
BIG cairn (which is pretty interesting itself) at N41.24.285, W
75.35.010. Just a little further is a solstice seat at N41.24.537,
W 75.34.834. You can dance with the druids here. At their
fireplace, go a few feet at 210 degrees to find an easy trail out
of the maze.
