Eagle Eye Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Baburelli: I looked for the cache today but couldn't find it either. What I did find was beavers having had a go at the tree. I hope they gave up and the tree won't die. I have decided to archive this cache because I have had to replace it too many times and the brambles get too annoying in the summer.

Geocache Description:

Please leave the cache in place when you extract the log book! The previous one disappeared and this is a replacement. The location has slightly changed and is not as nifty and tricky as the previous one but that couldn't be helped. Someone destroyed the hiding place and now it has lost its 'cool factor' and no hint is needed. :(

The cache is located on a little stretch of dyke along River Road West, close to the bridge to Westham Island.

There is an eagle's nest nearby which has seen many eaglets mature and take off into the unknown over the past 16+ years. This year started out the same way with the parents 'renovating' the nest and for a while it looked that mom was sitting on eggs but now it seems pretty certain that there won't be any babies this year. The parents have been here for a long time and may be getting to the end of their reproductive life. I hope not!

This cache is in honour of them. They have given me much pleasure for many years!

April 2015: False alarm and good news: Parents are still productive and there is at least one eaglet in the nest. :) July 2016: 2 eaglets this year, ready to fledge
