The cache is located on a little stretch of dyke along River Road West, close to the bridge to Westham Island.
There is an eagle's nest nearby which has seen many eaglets mature and take off into the unknown over the past 16+ years. This year started out the same way with the parents 'renovating' the nest and for a while it looked that mom was sitting on eggs but now it seems pretty certain that there won't be any babies this year. The parents have been here for a long time and may be getting to the end of their reproductive life. I hope not!
This cache is in honour of them. They have given me much pleasure for many years!
April 2015: False alarm and good news: Parents are still productive and there is at least one eaglet in the nest. :) July 2016: 2 eaglets this year, ready to fledge
