L’ancien couvent Notre-Dame abrite depuis le XIX° siècle, la gendarmerie et la sous-préfecture. Bâti au cours du XVII° siècle, le couvent a permis l’installation définitive des religieuses de Notre-Dame de Sarlat, qui avaient fui l’épidémie de peste sévissant à Domme en 1633. Ce couvent avait pour vocation d’éduquer les jeunes filles et les écarter du protestantisme.
En 1778, le pavillon du pensionnat, qui abrite actuellement la sous-préfecture, fut construit grâce à des fonds alloués par le gouverneur de Guyenne. L’édifice prend alors un aspect prestigieux avec perron semi-circulaire, façade ordonnée et escalier intérieur monumental.
Après la Révolution Française, le couvent fut vendu comme bien national ; après quelques travaux d’aménagement en 1819-1820, la gendarmerie est aménagée sur le côté droit de la place Salvador-Allende.
La sous-préfecture, quant à elle, occupa d’abord l’ancien présidial, avant d’être transférée en 1841 dans le pavillon du pensionnat Notre-Dame.
Face à la gendarmerie se trouve un des vestiges important du rempart sauvé au XIX° siècle. La Tour de la Bouquerie, renforcée pendant la guerre de Cent Ans, a résisté à l’état d’abandon après 1750, lorsque les consuls furent autorisés à ne plus réparer ni le rempart, ni les tours, ni les portes de ville. Elle résiste encore, servant en partie de carrière au début du XIX° siècle. En 1829, la tour et le logis mitoyen devenus privés furent enfin sauvegardés.
Inscrits à l’inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques en 1944, tour et logis ont été restaurés en 1980, devenant un hôtel-restaurant.

The former convent of Notre-Dame has been hosting the Gendarmerie and the Sub-prefecture, since the 19th century. Built during the 17th century, this convent enabled the final installation of the Sisters of Notre-Dame de Sarlat, who had fled the plague raging in Domme in 1633. This monastery was intended to educate girls and keep them of Protestantism.
In 1778, the pavillon of the boarding school, which currently houses the sub-prefecture, was built with funds allocated by the Governor of Guyenne. The building takes a prestigious appearance with semi-circular steps, an ordered façade and a monumental interior staircase.
After the French Revolution, the convent was sold as national property ; after some upgrading in 1819-1820, the gendarmerie was fitted on the right side of the square-Salvador Allende.
The sub-prefecture, in turn, occupied the former presidial first, before being transferred in 1841 in the pavillon of Notre-Dame boarding school.
Facing the Gendarmerie is one of the significant vestiges of the ramparts saved in the 19th century. Tower of La Bouquerie reinforced during the Hundred Years War, has stood the derelict after 1750, when the consuls were allowed not to repair the ramparts, nor towers, nor the city gates. It still resisted, serving as quarry in the early 19th century. In 1829, the tower and the adjoining house were finally saved.
Enrolled in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments in 1944, tower and house were restored in 1980, becoming a hotel restaurant.
