Cache #21
Fit for a King

Permission given by Randall Dowling, County Manager

The Battle of King’s Tanyard took place on July 31, 1864 when Federal troops stopped at Jug Tavern (now Winder) then marched to King’s Tanyard. With Confederate troops in pursuit, and Capron’s men thrown into confusion, 430 of troops were captured; others escaped into the woods and eventually reached Marietta.

This one is a very quick and easy one. It is hidden, with permission, on the edge of the Barrow County Fire Department's property. You are welcome on the property, but PLEASE be mindful and DO NOT BLOCK THE FIRE LANE!!!You are looking for an ammo can that is discretely hidden just inside the forest line. It is also noteworthy to mention the actual marker is just down the road, but there rally isn't a lot of room to park. This location is much safer for the little ones.
