Person X was born in the West Country, where their father was a teacher at the nearby cathedral school.
Person X lived in Oxfordshire for the last thirty-two years of their life.
Person X is probably best known for their novels, short stories and children’s books, some of which were best-sellers for more than forty years in the UK and US.
Person X had eleven novels published between 1934 and 1970, one of which was made into a film in the UK. Another was released as a Hollywood movie (under a slightly different name).
