Lavoir du Chemin du Pâtis / Wash house in Chemin du Pâtis
Posen était un paysan de Santranges (cache A la découVERTe de Santranges | GC4X7NT), petite commune située dans le Cher et proche de Châtillon. Ceci se passe au Ve siècle. Il garde ses moutons et, témoin d'un miracle, se fait prêtre et ermite. A sa mort, les habitants de Nancray (cache L'enVER(T)s du décor : Châtillon et son histoire | GC3VHY2) et de Santranges se disputant sa dépouille, décident de la charger sur un chariot tiré par deux bœufs blancs en laissant ces derniers décider de la direction à prendre. Ceux-ci partent vers Nancray, s'arrêtent au pied de la colline, tapent du pied et une source jaillit. Une source miraculeuse pouvant guérir bien des maux et encore visible actuellement. Les lieux où vécut Saint Posen firent l'objet de pèlerinages jusqu'au début du XXe siècle... Une petite chapelle contenant les restes de Saint Posen fut construite sur la colline. Elle est restaurée lorsque les moines s'installent sur celle-ci. La chapelle est détruite en 1557 et les restes de Saint Posen, saccagés, furent protégés dans une crypte construite sous l'église de Châtillon où ils se trouvent peut-être encore après les destructions successives de cette église et la reconstruction de la crypte.

La fontaine aujourd'hui
Lorsque, enfant, je venais jouer dans l’Ethelin, ruisseau dans lequel s’écoule l’eau de la fontaine, il était très courant de voir arriver des gens chargés de bidons et qui venaient recueillir l’eau de la fontaine pour leur propre consommation. Dans les années 80, l’eau fut déclarée impropre à la consommation et un écriteau finit par dissuader les derniers amateurs … Son débit s’appauvrit en été et il est fréquent que la source ne coule plus. Heureusement, elle fut équipée d’un toit dans les années 2000, son petit pont fut habillé de bois et le lavoir voisin fut réhabilité. Le quartier a retrouvé tout son charme, bien différent cependant de la vue de carte postale des années 1900.

Quand je venais jouer dans l’Ethelin, ce lavoir n'existait pas, ou plus. Il a été reconstruit dans les années 90 et agrémente joliment ce petit coin calme du faubourg de Nancray

Pourquoi "VERT" ?
Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.
La cache est de taille nano. Prévoir un crayon. Merci de bien la replacer telle que vous l’aurez trouvée et de rester discret face aux immeubles du voisinage et à la circulation.
Saint Posen's legend
Posen was a farmer of Santranges (cache A la découVERTe de Santranges | GC4X7NT), small village situated in Cher and close to Châtillon. This takes place in 5th century. He guards his sheeps and, witness of a miracle, becomes priest and hermit. When he dies, the inhabitants of Nancray (cache L'enVER(T)s du décor : Châtillon et son histoire | GC3VHY2) and of Santranges quarrelling his remains, decides to load it on a wagon pulled by two white oxen and to let them decide on the direction to be taken. These leave towards Nancray, stop at feet of the hill, stamp and a source springs. A supernatural source which can cure many troubles and still visible. The places where lived Saint Posen were the object of pilgrimages till the beginning of the XXth century... A small chapel containing the rests of Saint Posen was built on the hill. It has been restored when the monks settle down on this one. The chapelhas been in 1557 and the rests of Saint Posen, plundered, were protected in a crypt built under the church of Châtillon where they are maybe even after the successive destructions of this church and the reconstruction of the crypt.

The fountain today
When I was young, I came to play in Ethelin, brook in which flows by the water of the fountain, it was very common to see people in charge of tins and who came to collect the water of the fountain for their own consumption. In the 80s, the water was declared unfit for the consumption and a placard eventually dissuades the last amateurs … Its debit becomes impoverished in summer and it is frequent that the source does not pour any more. Fortunately, it was equipped with a roof in the 2000s, its small bridge was dressed in wood and the nearby laundry was rehabilitated. The district found all its charm, very different however from the sight of postcard of the 1900s.

When I came to play in the Ethelin, this wash-house did not exist, or more. It was rebuilt in the 90s and nicely embellishes this quiet little corner of the suburb of Nancray

Why "VERT" ?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
The hiding place is a nano. Please bring your own pen. Thank you for replacing it as you will found it and remain discreet in front of buildings of the neighborhood and of the traffic.
