Bonza Batur Traditional Geocache

This cache is located at Kintamani, the main town set on the edge of the caldera formed when  the volcano, Mt Batur, erupted 25 000 years ago. Since then a new active volcano has formed within the caldera. Also called Mt Batur, it has erupted a number of times, most recently in 1999. The freshwater Lake Batur forms a crescent on the eastern edge of Mt Batur.

The cache consists of a rectangular plastic clip lock box contains the log, pencils, sharpener and various objects for exchange. There is also a laminated copy of the geocaching explanatory notes. The cache is located just near the entrance to the reception desk, downstairs from the the carpark of the Lakeview Hotel, the oldest continuously operating tourist venture in Kintamani. It has been hidden with the knowledge and approval of the hotel's General Manager, Kadek Adidharma, the third generation of family to operate the hotel.

it is worth making this cache hunt an overnight expedition because there are many things to see and do in the area, including hot springs swimming pools. There is a variety of accommodation in the area and  eating options of all kinds. /p>

note:entering Kintamini from the direction of Denpasar, you will be asked to pay a small amount --about 11 000 rupiah, $1  per person -- which goes to the local government for upkeep of the area.

This area is deservedly regarded as one of Bali's premier tourist spots.
