About Village Sign Caches
This cache belongs to the Village Sign Series, a series of caches based on ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (generally on the village green!).
The signs can be made of different materials from fibreglass to wood, from forged steel to stone. They can depict anything from local industry to historical events. The tradition probably started in Norfolk or Suffolk and has now spread across most of the country so we thought we would base a series on them!

Eversholt is a Bedfordshire village, about 3 miles east of Woburn. It has a population of about 420. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) and is over 1000 years old. Its name comes from Anglo-Saxon meaning "wood of the wild boar". The village has a church (with Church Micro!), pub, cricket club / pitch, Lower School and open-air swimming pool.
The sign is not a traditional sign, but is instead a lovely, illustrated mosaic map of the village.
Beneath the sign is a plaque. There are in total A lines of text. The first line has B words. C letters are enclosed within inverted commas / speech marks. The sum of all the numbers on the plaque is D. Simply use this to calculate the final coordinates to find the cache! The cache is a mint box - seemed like a good tactic!
