Geocache Description:

The 5590th cache in the ever-expanding Church Micro Series, started by Sadexploration.

This offset multi takes you around the churchyard of St Thomas of Canterbury Church in the Oxfordshire village of Goring-on-Thames. The above coordinates take you to the lychgate. The cache is not at this location, but if you begin here and walk in an anti-clockwise direction around the church, you should find the clues in the right order which will give you the coordinates of the cache.

We believe this multi is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs; there are a few steps by the church, but these can be avoided by taking the path further round to the right.

Some notes of interest about the church:

•    Built around 1100
•    One of the oldest bells in England (cast about 1290) is above the doorway that leads from the nave to the
west door.
•    The Norman font was removed from the church in 1848 and after almost ninety years laying neglected in Gatehampton, was recovered and repositioned at the base of the tower. During refurbishment in 2009 it was reinstated in its original position by the north door.
•    The impressive rood screen was erected in 1910 and is made from oak from the ship HMS Thunderer.
•    The Canterbury Room extension used sustainable materials such as sheep’s wool insulation.
•    St Thomas is a Fairtrade church and refreshments are served after every 10am Sunday service.

Now for the cache… you need to find the number of:

A = small rectangular sections in one of the gates leading to the Rectory Garden.
B = different armed forces represented on graves on your left hand side as you return to the main path.
C = sides to the base of the war memorial.
D = yew trees on the main path leading to the church.
E = paving slabs in front of the west door (which is big and blue).
F = lamp posts in front of the entrance to the Canterbury Room extension.
G = calendar years in which a resident lived in Goring who has a bench in his memory.

The cache can be found a short walk away at:

N51 31 (E/4) (C-B) (A/6)
W001 08 (B-F) ((G/12)+1)) (B-D-F)

Whilst renovations are ongoing at the church, this slightly tweaked formula can be used:

N51 31 (A/(2*C)) (C-B) (A/6)
W001 08 (B-F) ((G/12)+1)) (B-D-F)

You are looking for a magnetic key safe that does not use its magnet.
