Geocache Description:

St. Gregory's Church in Seaton is one of the two Anglican Churches which make up the Coastal Mission Community in East Devon.

St. Gregory's Church dates from the 12th Century and replaced an earlier wooden building. The bell tower was re-sited in its current location in the 15th century and contains eight bells.

The windows are unusual in that, apart from two, all are different in design. The beautiful, clear 'Water of Life' window on the south wall of the Lady Chapel was commissioned to celebrate the Millennium and 2000 years of the work of the Holy Spirit.

Among items of interest outside the church are a pre-reformation scratch dial on the outside of the porch, and the grave of the famous Devon smuggler, Jack Rattenbury.

The cache is not within the church grounds but is nearby, and contains a small badge for the FTF. There are also lovely views across the Axe estuary from the cache location.

Please bring your own pen.

Congratulations to SBSD for FTF
