About this church:
In 1859 the present church was erected as a congregational church. Prior to that its origins date back to 1176, when a congregation was founded by the Rev. Craddock Glascott- chaplain to The Countess of Huntingdon. They first worshipped in his Westgate Lodgings, then a small chapel in Wood Street, off Westgate.
In 1891, the chapel was destroyed by fire and rebuilt. In 1972, the Congregational and Presbyterian churches joined, and Westgate became a United Reform Church.
In 1978, the church joined with the Wentworth St Methodist congregation to form a United Church with shared ministry. In 1983, the church was again destroyed by fire and rebuilt.
Other Stuff:
The cache is in a safe location to retrieve and replace, but in view of the busy road, we'd recommend not to bring children here, or at least keep them at a safe distance from the road.
Please replace the cache as found, and refer to the hint if you're not sure. We've made it as specific as can be.
A NOTE ABOUT MUGGLES
Please make an educated decision about the level of muggle activity when you arrive at GZ, and if you find it's just too muggly, we'd suggest you return another time - we'd rather you protected the cache. Please bear in mind also that you may be visible to muggles from behind as well as in front. That said, the cache has been hidden in such a way as to be retrieved and replaced discreetly. Thank you. |
