Geocache Description:

Tiroran Forest.

A lovely wee stop beside the River Seilisdeir with good chances of seeing Mull’s most iconic bird, the white tailed sea eagle.

The river that you overlook look is the River Seilisdeir, Seilisdeir is gaelic for iris. In spring along the river and particularly in damp areas you will see the yellow waving heads of the flag iris.

The bridge near the parking area is a great spot for butterflies in the summertime - look out for flowering knapweed, a purple headed flower (similar to a thistle). You might see peacock, red admiral, dark-green fritiliary, common blue and scotch argus. This cache is easily accessible and close to the car parking but if you have the time, it is worth walking along the forest track a way. Very good chances of seeing the white-tailed eagle, the UK's largest raptor, and one of Mull's most iconic birds. You can also look with binoculars to the more distance mountain ridge line to look for golden eagles.
