Geocache Description:

A Church Micro cache that takes you to an interesting old church at the side of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

Freedom Church.


Two Locks Community Church was built in 1860 as the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and stands alongside the canal towpath in the area known (with good reason) as Two Locks. The canal here, pre-dates the church by about 60 years, and the Two Locks were two out of a total of 42 locks that enabled the canal to rise by 447 feet in just 12.5 miles from Newport to Pontnewynydd. Some information about the canal in general and Two Locks in particular can be found on the east towpath.

The cache is placed by kind permission of Pastor Robert King and is on church property but YOU DO NOT NEED TO ENTER THE CHURCH GROUNDS IN ORDER TO RETRIEVE IT. If you are travelling by car, Pastor King respectfully requests that you do not use the church's car park when looking for the cache, but rather use the free public car park at the given co-ordinates.

Please remember that the permission to place this cache is given on the understanding that geocachers looking for it do not interfere with the smooth running of this busy church. While Pastor King and other members of the church are aware of the cache, they do not know its exact location so please do not ask anyone in the church to assist you in finding it.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a new member PLEASE make sure that you have validated your email address. This allows other members to contact you. This is especially important if you are having trouble finding a particular cache, as it allows the cache owner to send you an extra hint.
