EDIFÍCIO DA FACULDADE DE DIREITO
A Igreja de Ordem Primeira, ou simplesmente Igreja São Francisco de Assis, começou a ser construída em 1642. Inaugurada em 1647, ela foi construída em taipa de pilão e suas paredes têm 1,5 metros de espessura. Reformas no século XVIII dotaram características barrocas até que, em 1884, a fachada foi modificada e a entrada central foi aberta. Seu interior é simples, mas conta a história dos padres franciscanos em imagens, inclusive algumas portuguesas de grande valor como a de São Francisco, considerada a mais bela de um convento franciscano no país. O Convento de São Francisco, que fazia parte do complexo, abrigou a Faculdade de Direito da USP a partir de 1827, pouco depois da independência do Brazil de Portugal. Em 1930 o prédio foi demolido e deu lugar a um projeto maior, em estilo neo-colonial, concluído em 1934. Também conhecida como Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco é a mais antiga do Brasil e uma das melhores na sua área de atuação. Conta com uma biblioteca aberta ao público com cerca de 300 mil títulos, muitos de autoria de ex-alunos ilustres como Rui Barbosa, Castro Alves, Monteiro Lobato e Álvares de Azevedo.

LAW SCHOOL BUILDING
The First Order church, or simply Saint Francis of Assisi Church, start to be built in 1642. Opened in 1647, it was built in rammed earth and their walls are 1,5 meters thick. Renewals in the XVIII century give them baroque characteristics until, in 1884, that the facade was modified and the central entrance was opened. Its interior is simple but tells the story of the Franciscan priests in images, inclusive some Portuguese of great value like the Saint Francis, considered one of the most beautiful inside a Brazilian Franciscan convent. The Saint Francis convent, that was part of the complex, held the USP Law School from 1827, a bit after the independence of Brazil form Portugal. In 1930 the building was demolished and gave place to a bigger project, in neo-colonial style, concluded in 1934. Also known as "Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco" it is the Brazil eldest and one of the best in the subject. It has a open library with almost 300 thousand titles, many written by famous ex-students Rui Barbosa, Castro Alves, Monteiro Lobato and Álvares de Azevedo.
