Un tragique accident a confirmé la communication de ce gouffre avec la source du Lison : lors d’une visite, une jeune fille s’est noyée dans le gouffre, 8 jours après, on retrouvait son corps à l’aval de la source. En période de grandes eaux, ce gouffre d'effondrement reçoit de puissantes cascades : ces eaux proviennent du ruisseau du Lison Haut qui circule en amont sur le jurassique supérieur. Son cours est jalonné de pertes et d'entonnoirs.
A tragic accident confirmed the communication of this hole with the spring of Lison: during a visit, a girl drowned in the hole. 8 days later, we found her body downstream of the spring. In big waters periods, this hole receives powerful waterfalls: this waterflow comes from the Haut Lison which circulates upstream on the Upper Jurassic. His course is marked out by lost rivers and by funnels.
La formation du creux Billard - The formation of creux Billlard.
A partir des modèles élaborés par Jean-Claude Frachon (spéléologue français), il est facile de reconstituer la formation du creux Billard et du Lison. Selon J.-C. Frachon, une reculée se forme à partir des réseaux aériens de drainage qui se sont perdus sous terre. Des pertes peuvent même se former entre chaque ressaut comme dans les sauts du Hérisson.
From the models developed by Jean-Claude Frachon (French speleologist), we can easily reconstitute the formation of the "creux Billard" and of Lison. According to J.-C. Frachon, a blind valley is formed by the aerian drining systems which got lost underground. Lost rivers can even appear between every waterfall like the Herisson’s jumps. (Waterfalls situated in the department of jura).
La source du Lison et le creux Billard sont en fait deux fronts de reculée du Lison. On peut d'ailleurs reconnaître quelques émergences temporaires dans les "fronts de saut" du Creux Billard, formées selon un processus identique à celui des systèmes pertes-résurgences reconnus dans les sauts du Hérisson par J.-C. Frachon. Le creux Billard n'est pas vraiment un gouffre d'effondrement, il n'y a d'ailleurs pas assez de blocs au fond du creux pour croire à cette hypothèse. En coupe, on devine que la reculée du creux Billard est plus ancienne que celle du Lison. Le siphon qui relie le creux Billard au Lison n'est qu'une portion de galeries d'un de ces systèmes perte-résugence qui ont miné les sauts du Lison aérien (vallée sèche).
The spring of Lison and the creux Billard are in fact two fronts of blind valley of Lison. We can moreover recognize some temporary emergences in the "fronts of jump " of the creux Billard, formed by the same process than the system recognized in the jumps of the Hérisson by J.-C. Frachon. The creux Billard is not really a collapsed hole, there are not enough blocks at the bottom of the hole to believe in this hypothesis. In section, we guess that the blind valley of the creux Billard is older than the one of Lison. The siphon which links the creux Billard to Lison is only a part of galleries of one of these systems which mined the jumps of air Lison (dry valley).
