Geocache Description:

Please bring a pen
Depending on the time of day it can be a very high muggle area or almost no muggles at all.
The woodland that you see today is set within the Great River Ouse flood plain, an area that is occasionally flooded by the river.

Set in the beautiful Forest of Marston Vale. The Vale is one of 12 Community Forests in England. Community Forests were set up around towns and cities in the early 1990s, to improve land affected by industrial use in the past. The Forest of Marston Vale covers 61 square miles of Bedfordshire between Ampthill, Milton Keynes and Bedford

Creating wet woodland habitat involves thinning some of the woodland compartments and excavating new networks of ditches that will link the Elstow Brook to the Great River Ouse. This will encourage natural flooding of specific areas of woodland. Although the thinning will involve felling trees, some of the compartments will be replanted with native species and additional areas of woodland will also be created. Why has the cache got this name? River back channels have been cut in order to allow fish a safe haven in conditions of flood or if they wish to rest from the current.
