Bethel Baptist Church is a friendly church which exists to serve the Village of Llay and surrounding communities. It was formed to share the glorious good news for all mankind - there is a God who loves and cares for us. It has been in the village since 1927. At that time, it was know as "The Chapel on the hill" and stood on the rise behind the Co-Operative store on Nant-Y-Gaer Road. Over the years, the Baptist Chapel moved to its current location, the former Welsh Presbyterian Chapel (Glanaber), further down Nant-Y-Gaer Road. In fact, because of its location, Bethel is sometimes known as "The second church on Nant-Y-Gaer Road".
