De l'autre coté du canal se trouve le "Petit Château".
Jusqu'à la fin du XVIIIe siècle, le site était occupé par une importante demeure bourgeoise entourée de jardins.
L'ancien château d'Ansillon (du nom de ses derniers propriétaires) fut acquis par les autorités en 1775 à des fins militaires.
La caserne toujours visible actuellement fut construite de 1848 à 1852.
La nature humide du sol nécessita la pose de 2000 pieux destinés à renforcer les fondations.
Tour à tour caserne militaire, maison de détention et centre de recrutement et de sélection de l'armée belge, le "Petit Château" est aujourd'hui l'un des centres d'accueil pour demandeurs d'asile en Belgique. Il abrite plus de 700 résidents encadrés par une équipe de 120 personnes.

Aan de andere kant van het kanaal bevindt zich " 't Klein Kasteeltje".
Tot het einde van de XVIIIde eeuw was het een groot herenhuis omringd met tuinen.
Het oud kasteel Ansillon, genaamd naar de laatste eigenaar, werd door de Oostenrijkse regering gekocht in 1775 en deze maakte er een kazerne van.
De huidige kazerne werd gebouwd tussen 1848 en 1852.
Door het waterig grondgebied waren er 2000 palen nodig voor de fundering.
" 't Klein Kasteeltje" was beurtelings een kazerne, een gevangenis, het centrum voor selectie en recrutering van het leger en nu een asielcentrum. Er leven 700 mensen in het opvangcentrum en een ploeg van 120 medewerkers.

On the other side of the channel is the "Petit Château".
Until the end of the eighteenth century, the site was occupied by a large mansion surrounded by gardens.
The old castle Ansillon, named after its last owner, was bought by the Austrian government in 1775 for military purposes.
The always visible barracks was built from 1848 to 1852.
The wet nature of the ground necessitated the installation of 2000 piles to strengthen the foundations.
The "Petit Château" was alternately a barracks, a prison, the center for selection and recruitment of the Belgian Army and now a refugee center. There live 700 people in the center supervised by a team of 120 people.
