Operatie Veritable - Start line
Veritable Monument

Operatie Veritable was een militaire operatie van de Britse 21e Legergroep onder leiding van veldmaarschalk Bernard Montgomery tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Het was de noordelijke helft van een tangbeweging om het gebied tussen de Roer en de Rijn te bevrijden. Deze operatie (inclusief Blockbuster) vond plaats tussen 8 februari en 11 maart 1945.


U bent hier bij het monument van Veritable maar ook Market Garden sept 1944. Want als deze operatie er niet was geweest, zou Veritable hoogst waarschijnlijk niet hebben plaatsgevonden.

Hier startte Monty's Operatie VERITABLE
8 FEB 1945, richting Rijn en Wezel
met ruim driehonderd duizend
Britse en Canadese militairen.
Bezoeker, besef dat ooit begonnen moet
worden met wat noodzakelijk is.

Hier landden Rode Duivels van 508 Prcht Inf
- zeg maar: engelen - 17/18 SEP 1944
en artillerie, aan parachutes en in zwevers
als Schild voor het Rijk van Nijmegen.
Bezoeker, wees Schild, waar mensen worden
bedreigd, ongeacht naam of kleur.



Deze cache is de eerste in de reeks, in het teken van Operatie Veritable, welke hier plaatsvond in het grensgebied.


Parkeren: Er is alleen een mogelijkheid om aan de Derdebaan (niet de hoofdweg) te parkeren, denk dan wel aan alarmlichten.

Operatie Veritable - Start line (English version)


Operation Veritable was a military operation by the British 21 Army and under lead of Field marshal Bernard Montgomery during the second world war.
This was the northern (Pincer) part of the area between the Roer and the Rhine to be liberated. This operation (including Blockbuster) took place from 08 February 1945 till 11 March 1945.


Here you see the monument for the Operation Veritable, but also Market Garden Sept 1944.  If this Operation did not take place, probably Veritable would not take place.

Here - 17/18 SEP 1944 - Red Devils of 508 Prcht Inf
landed with artillery by parachute and glider.
Devils - or angels? - came to shield
the District of Nijmegen.
Pilgrim, no matter the name of the color,
shield the vulnerable.

From this point around three hundred thousand
British and Canadian soldiers
set off on 8 FEB 1945 for Wesel and the Rhine
on Monty's Operation VERITABLE.

This cache is the first in the Operation Veritable serie, which took place in the area.

Parking: there is a possibility to park your car on the Derdebaan (not the mainroad) but use your warning lights.
