Esta nascente de água fresca era lugar de encontro das mulheres enquanto lavavam a roupa ou aguardavam a vez nas filas para se abastecerem de água.
Este local, antigamente baldio, foi embelezado no final dos anos quarenta, tendo o fontanário, aí já existente, sido encostado ao paredão de suporte ao caminho de acesso à Fonte Grande, dando assim origem a um espaço paralelo à ribeira a que foi chamado Passeio Eng.º Duarte Pacheco.
Ao fundo do passeio, num pequeno monumento aí existente, faz-se homenagem ao poeta Cândido Guerreiro, assim como ao longo do paredão, onde existem painéis de azulejos com sonetos da sua autoria.
Este harmonioso espaço serve de parque de merendas e de convívio, não só para os altenses, como para os visitantes. É também palco de muitos eventos lúdicos, alguns deles associados à Semana Cultural de Alte, em que antigamente os bailes aqui realizados possuíam grande fama.

This freshwater spring was the meeting place for the women whilst they washed their clothes or waited in the queues to fetch water.
This place, once barren land, was reconceived at the end of the 40s when the already existing drinking fountain was leant against the support wall of the access path to the Large Fountain, which created a space parallel to the riverbank that was given the name Walkway Eng.º Duarte Pacheco.
At the end of the walkway, on the small monument erected there, homage is given to the poet Cândido Guerreiro, as is the case along the wall wiht panels of tiles that display sonnets written by him.
This harmonious area functions as a picnic park and as a place to get together, not only for the inhabitants of Alte, but also for vistors. In the past the dances held here were notorious and at present this place is a stage for many fun events, some of which are associated to the Cultural Week of Alte.
