The Battle of Bladensburg trail is part of the Star Spangled Banner trail that connects places, people & events that led to the birth of our National Anthem during the War of 1812. This 1.3 mile (one way) hiking & biking trail starts at the Battle of Bladensburg Visitors Center in the Bladensburg Waterfront Park and continues through the American first & 2nd lines to the Dueling Grounds & Fort Lincoln Cemetery with interpretative signage about the August 24, 1814 battle. The trail map, set by the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area (ATHA), will be needed for the hike through present day towns of Cottage City & Colmar Manor, can be picked up at the Battle of Bladensburg Visitors Center, posted hours of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday-Friday or online at www.battleofbladensburg1812.com/walkingtour.pdf . The puzzle sheet below should be taken along the hike to answer the 6 questions and record the answers. The final cache coordinates are then ready.
