This traditional geocache is located in the direct proximity of the Kairei hydrothermal vent field in a water depth of 2431 m below sealevel. We used the ROV KIEL 6000 during an international marine expedition for deployment.
The cache container consits of a stainless steel tube which is closed with sponges on both sides. The sponges act as a biological settlement experiment. You may remove them to find the saltwater-proof log book. Please put them back after you are done. For your comfort, you may also log directly on the outside of the steel tube with a pencil ;-)
Once you are there make sure you log the Deep Gold Shark Tooth Geocoin as well. It is on the right side of the tube. Additional, the tracking number is welded with big letters on the front side of the tube (retouched in the foto above).
A regional bathymetric map showing the exact location of the cache:
We know that there are a lot of active groups from Japan, India, France and South Korea (what about Great Britain?) doing marine research there. It would be greate to get a "Find it" from you! Feel free to grab one or the other gold doubloon. But be aware of the pirate and his monkey: they are angry and churlish...
Good luck!
