Geocache Description:

A small hide about two hundred feet off of the fire road around one of the northern reaches of Liberty Reservoir.  Lovely views along this hike.

This cache is dedicated to Eagleblazer, who just finished up his successful term as the illustrious vice-president of the Maryland Geocaching Society.  He also recently moved to our area, so we thought we had ought to put another one out to help him fall behind on his local caching!  Happy New Year Eagleblazer, and welcome to the neighborhood!

As with all hides, there's more than one way to get here.  We'd discourage you from hot air balloning or sky-diving to this one, but do what you think is best.  If you park where we did, at the parking on the northwest side of MD 32, just north of where it crosses the reservoir, the hide is just a short .95 miles from that spot as the crow flies.  For the rest of us non-crow type cachers, it is a 1.7 mile hike down the fire road, and then a 200FT bushwhack.

You may be able to work your way through to there from the parking at the end of Poole Rd., but we didn't go in that way, so we are not sure if the fire road loops all the way around to there across Morgan Run.  If you take the route we suggest, there are a number of caches to do along the way, some by us, and some by NCPositronics, all, we believe, worth your while.

COORDINATES:

The provided coordinates were established using commercially available GPS receivers, no phones were used in the development of coordinates for this cache.  Three site surveys were conducted for this hide, and coordinates were taken at each one.  Each set of coordinates was averaged at the time of capture, then all three sets were averaged and the result is what we posted.  We had no indication of poor reception on any visit, and are confident that the posted coordinates will allow you to successfuly obtain a good ground zero.  After that it is up to you.

PARKING:

There is ample parking for quite a few cars at the fire road entrance on Route 32, just north of the bridge over Liberty Lake.
